Iowa tabbed fifth by Big Ten writers

Iowa's men's basketball team was picked fifth in a Big Ten preseason media poll, which was released this morning.
The panel consisted of 24 writers who cover a specific team in the league. The Gazette's Scott Dochterman participated in the poll.
Iowa earned a range of votes, accumulating two second-place nods all the way down to two eighth-place votes. The majority of votes came at fourth place (four), fifth place (seven) and sixth place (six). Iowa finished with 192 points.
Michigan State was picked to win the Big Ten by all 24 writers, earning 288 points. Michigan was selected second with 241, one more than Ohio State. Wisconsin was fourth with 218. Rounding out the list were Indiana (173), Purdue (143), Illinois (127), Minnesota (74), Northwestern (70), Penn State (58) and Nebraska (48).
