Video No. 1 — Here's Kirk Ferentz's entire postgame Saturday. Some of you are up in arms because he didn't come out and name C.J. Beathard the starting quarterback for next week's game at Purdue.
Couple of thoughts there: Rudock's injury needs further evaluation. No one knew the extent in the immediate postgame. Rudock didn't have any trainers around him in the second half, but he didn't move particularly well coming off the field. And two, injuries and promotions are a touchy subject, something that Ferentz isn't going to run up and blurt in a postgame news conference.
I think Beathard starts next week, but if Rudock is healthy, he could keep the spot. At the very least, Beathard is back on the map after that one mystery series against Ball State.
Video No. 2 — C.J. Beathard just jumped in. 'Be calm and don't make a big deal out of it.' He called the result a good confidence booster.
Video No. 2 — This is more Beathard. I'm not sure what he said here. It's short enough. Give it a click.
And below is Iowa celebrating with its fans in the end zone after the victory.
