Betty May Carney, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. As per the family's wishes, private family inurnment
will be at a later date in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Betty was born April 24, 1935, in Ely, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Hajek) Dostal. She was united in marriage to Warren Carney on June 6, 1955, at 1st Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. They were married nearly 62 years, until his passing in May of 2017. She worked at the Wilson Avenue Hy-Vee for over 19 years, retiring in 1993. Family time for Betty was very rewarding. She and Warren enjoyed traveling to Arizona and attending as many of the grandchildren's events as possible.
Betty is survived by her children, Ronald (Denise) Carney of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan (Jeff) Kopish of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Christopher Carney (Alexis), Nicole (Ryan) Dixon, Mike (Jess) Kopish and Jory Kopish; her great-grandchildren, Ellie, Theo and Elle; her sister, Mary Ann Klouda of Cedar Rapids; as well as her nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; her sister, Georgia; and a brother-in-law, Mike Klouda.
