Letter: Republicans should attend LWV forums

On March 18, I was fortunate to attend my first meeting of a legislative forum at the Hallagan Center at Mercy Medical Center. Much to my surprise my representative, Ashley Hinson, and Rep. Ken Rizer, were at Lowe Park in Marion.
The reason given by Rizer, a Republican, was he represents more people in his district who live in Marion and it is hard for them to drive to Cedar Rapids. Well, I live in Cedar Rapids and it would have been hard for me to drive to Marion.
Perhaps he didn't want to be questioned about the bills he has and is supporting that ruined school funding, workman's compensation, collective bargaining and the voter ID changes. Did he mention that local county auditors will have to buy and pay for the new equipment to handle these changes and it won't be cheap?
How many voter ID frauds has Iowa experienced in the past several years? The League of Women Voters have hosted this for years and now all of a sudden it is too hard for Marion residents to drive to Cedar Rapids? What a slap in the face to the League.
Are the Republicans going to continue this childish behavior or are you coming back to the forum at Mercy Medical Center?
