Letter: Vote Hinson for Statehouse

This election season has been difficult to watch. No matter what your political stripe, the national election has left many of us with a feeling that staying home might be the best option. However, it is our civic duty to vote.
As a veteran, I have defended this right and will honor my voting responsibility. At times it seems like only us older citizens are the ones who want to vote and take politics seriously. This is why when I see young, positive energetic leaders running for state offices I get excited.
Ashley Hinson is well known to many of us for bringing the local news into our homes for more than a decade. I have gotten to know her personally and I can tell you that she is the kind of candidate that makes you excited to go out and vote again.
She is bright, engaging, caring and articulate. We don't get this type of opportunity often. She has made a career out of listening to both sides of a story and making sure all had a chance to be heard. I know she will take these attributes to the state house. She is committed to making education a priority by listening to parents, teachers, students and administrators. And seeing that we can make sure our schools have the resources they need in a way that is sustainable. I appreciate that she is trustworthy and I know that she will honor her responsibilities to the state of Iowa and to the people.
On Tuesday, vote Hinson for Statehouse.
