Reality check on our economic situation
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 4, 2010 11:33 am
OK, folks. Time for a reality check.
The stimulus money was put in to save us from an economic depression. The last depression lasted 10 years, and there was 25 percent unemployment. High debt started with Reagan, continued with the Bush presidencies, went down with Clinton and went up with the Bush and Obama stimulus packages. Was there another way to save us?
Jobs and taxes? CEOs of the large corporations know what is going on. Why would they add jobs when they know the middle class is becoming less and less able to buy their products and services?
Why hire people to manufacture more? How many refrigerators, T-shirts, etc., does a billionaire buy? Simple! Whatever their tax rate is, they won't add more jobs as long the middle class is diminishing. Patriotism comes in second to greed. They could stop sending jobs overseas.
Please think for yourselves and do your own research. The talking heads might be entertaining, but I fear their agenda.
And fellow Christians, our “leader” left us instructions. Read some of them in his Sermon on the Mount and act accordingly.
