Officials identify body of swimmer found in central Iowa lake
UPDATE: Crews have identified the body of a swimmer who dove into a central Iowa lake and never resurfaced.
Authorities say the body of 24-year-old Mohammad Ashrafi of Marshalltown was discovered Monday night.
Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald says emergency crews were called to the lake at Hickory Grove Park southwest of Colo around 4 p.m. Monday.
Fitzgerald says Ashrafi and others had been jumping from a paddle boat into the water about 200 yards from the beach.
Fitzgerald says the others reported that Ashrafi dove into the water and did not resurface.
Divers discovered Ashrafi's body in roughly 27 feet of water.
