Letter: Expand health care coverage to all

Regarding the June 14 guest column by Chris Petersen 'Small businesses can't afford political games”:
I agree with the sentiments of Petersen. Before Obamacare the health insurance premiums we had to pay while we were running our business in Cedar Rapids were crippling. I know firsthand what he means when he describes the health care legislation from Congress because we will be returning to those days again unless the Senate produces a more equitable bill that allows all Iowans to obtain coverage.
Now adding insult to injury, our president having encouraged the destruction of Obamacare is reported to have said to a group of GOP Senators that the House Bill AHCA is 'mean.” He described the same legislation several weeks ago as 'great” celebrating its passage at a special event in the Rose Garden. How can any sane person trust this guy? I guess someone has told him that 83 percent of all Americans do not like the House Bill so he doesn't like it now.
So it's down to the Senate to reveal their health care legislation, run it by the CBO and reveal it to the Senate and American public before July 4. I reckon there's a good chance we will not have a new law approved in time for 2018. What does that mean for the 70,000+ Iowans who bought insurance for 2017 on the health exchange?
