WEST UNION - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and at North Fayette Valley, Oct. 1 was Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Senior Tessa Becker got the ball rolling by asking a small group of friends to join her in showing their support towards breast cancer fighters and survivors. Soon, the idea spread with students informed about the the important day.
On Oct. 1, more than one hundred students arrived to school sporting pink attire. Both girls and boys participated in the day with equal enthusiasm. Many boys noted their clothes were borrowed from friends or family members, but scrambling for pink was worth the effort to support the cause.
Becker was touched by the amount of support her school gave for a cause close to her heart.
The day was a true testament to how a supportive school can become like a second family.
