Teeter, Kenneth G.
Kenneth G. Teeter, 89, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, died there Thursday, July 26, 2012, after a short illness. Graveside services, with military rites: 11:30 a.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Dennis of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer and Dennis Jr.; sister-in-law, Helen Teeter of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews, including Mike and Terry Schwandt of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard.
Ken was born April 13, 1923, in Fairfield, the son of Clarence and Grace (Hill) Teeter. He married Betty L. Newport on March 5, 1966, in Guttenberg. Ken was a maintenance foreman at Weyerhaeuser, retiring from there after more than 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Model A Ford Association of Cedar Rapids, the Moose Club, the Antique Automobile Association of Cedar Rapids, the Carl F. Moershel Iowa Basha, a life member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association No. 159 and the National Association No. 22372, the Midwest Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Association in Cedar Rapids and the Midwest Riverboat Buffs in Keokuk. He proudly served in the Army during World War II.
Ken enjoyed working on antique gas engines and time spent with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
