UI expects 'slow start' for bowl game ticket orders
Nov. 22, 2011 9:15 pm
IOWA CITY - The University of Iowa officially started taking bowl game ticket orders on Tuesday, but that didn't generate a huge rush of football fans at the UI ticketing office.
"It's usually quiet the first couple of days," said Pam Finke, UI Ticketing Manager. "After Friday's game (against Nebraska) people will get a little more anxious."
The university will need to sell anywhere from 6,000 to 12,000 tickets - depending on which game they're selected for - as part of a deal with the bowl game, Finke said. If the University fails to meet it's financial obligation, the Hawkeyes and the Big Ten Conference will be forced make-up the difference.
"People love to have us (Hawkeye fans) come visit them, it's a great deal and great fun," Finke said.
The Hawkeyes could end up in any of six different bowl games, ranging from the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona to the TaxSlayor Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida.
