To the editor:
If you are concerned about the proposed Bakken Oil Pipeline which would traverse Iowa and threaten our land and water, carrying 570,000 barrels of highly flammable crude oil across Iowa every day, then you are not alone. There is a growing movement of Iowans committed to stopping this project.
I have learned by working with the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (Iowa CCI) that our voice is stronger by working together. We, as landowners, have the same goal, which is to stop the Bakken Oil Pipeline. The only way we can do this is by getting involved. Let your neighbors know that they are not alone in this fight. Let's work together to save our great state.
Iowa CCI members are committed to fighting for the best interest of Iowans over corporate interests and profits that hurt people and the planet. They will be working to organize meetings for community members to get involved with the movement to stop the pipeline from being built.
The fight is far from over and with enough community support we can put an end to this risky proposal.
If you share my concerns about the pipeline's dangers or have concerns, reach out to Iowa CCI at (515) 282-0484 or iowacci@iowacci.org.
