Hlas' AP Top 25 ballot for Week 14
Mike Hlas Dec. 5, 2010 8:42 am
I moved Auburn up to No. 1 last week. Seems about right.
1. Auburn (13-0)
2. Oregon (12-0)
3. TCU (12-0)
4. Wisconsin (11-1)
5. Stanford (11-1)
6. Ohio State (11-1)
7. Michigan State (11-1)
8. Oklahoma (11-2)
9. Arkansas (10-2)
10. Virginia Tech (11-2)
10. Nevada (12-1)
11. Boise State (11-1)
12. Virginia Tech (11-2). Last week I had Va. Tech ahead of Nevada and Boise State. I'm not sure why. Boise State beat the Hokies in what basically was a Va. Tech home game. Yes, the Hokies have won 11 in a row. But they haven't beaten anyone as good as Boise State, and Boise State lost to Nevada, whose only loss was by one score at a 10-win Hawaii team.
I'll take the top four teams in the WAC against the top four in the ACC on neutral fields. Nevada, Boise State, Hawaii and Fresno State against Virginia Tech, Florida State and -- who, Maryland? North Carolina State? Miami?
13. Nebraska (10-3). Oklahoma-Nebraska was a great game, a saver to the day after the one-sided marquee games in the late afternoon involving Oregon and Auburn.
14. Missouri (10-2)
15. LSU (10-2). Iowa got into the Orange Bowl last year with two losses. This year, Arkansas is the only two-loss team that gets a BCS at-large berth, and one-loss Michigan State goes to the Capital One Bowl.
16. Oklahoma State (10-2)
17. Texas A&M (9-3)
18. Alabama (9-3)
19. Utah (10-2)
20. Hawaii (10-3). For all the talk about Boise State and Nevada, Hawaii shared the WAC title with them.
21. West Virginia (10-3)
22. South Carolina (9-4)
23. Central Fla. (10-3)
24. Florida State (9-4)
25. Maryland (8-4)
