Ginsberg Jewelers holding grand opening

Ginsberg Jewelers is celebrating the grand opening of its new store at 4647 First Ave. SE with events this week.

The family-owned jewelry store had been operating in downtown Cedar Rapids for 30 years. Its latest downtown location at 219 Second Ave. SE was extensively damaged in the flood of June 2008. It moved to a temporary location before settling into its newly-built home at the Market Place on 1st retail center on April 11.

The following events are planned

* Customer appreciation from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, featuring catered snacks and a drawing for a $1,000 gift certificate.

* Cinco de Mayo-flavored open house from 12 p.m. to 7 pm. Wednesday, May 5, reaching out to various businesses, specifically Ginsberg's downtown neighbors.

* The art work of Richard Baker will be on display, with a reception in honor of his digital art from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. Thursday, May 6. Additional information is available at www.imageafterimage.com

* KZI-FM radio live remote from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 7, and a special Mother's Day package will be given to two customers. Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, for Mother's Day weekend.
