Choose freedom instead of nanny government

How is it that citizens of the most powerful nation on our planet elect as their leader an individual with no executive experience? That question can be simply answered by emphasizing a single fact: The U.S. government has become the kind of corrupt government whom our Founders and their freedom-loving compatriots fought against - a huge, nanny government that controls its subjects by “taking care of them.”
An illness plagues today's self-serving politicians: greed. One might suspect that when most citizens display an initial desire to run for a political office, their intent is to serve the citizenry - to make a difference. Once elected, they run smack into nation-destroying solons who “will show them the ropes or else!”
However, in 2010, a new breed of politicians were elected by concerned, frightened citizens. They were given a mandate to stand on principle and they did. From their minority position, they stood up to the establishment. This is an encouraging commencement.
Founding Fathers John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, in their waning years, finally reconciled the political differences that separated them for years. Today's elite veteran politicians will express the same sentiment publicly, but their individual self-serving motives will most likely get in the way.
On Nov. 6, 2012, perhaps an enlightened electorate will put their freedoms ahead of their desire to “be taken care of.”
