Beware of dark money impact

To the editor:
After the recent election the country has moved a step closer to oligarchy. The multimillions in corporate dark money spent on Iowa races by unnamed sources was put in play by right wing activist justices on the Supreme Court with the odious 'Citizens United' ruling. We are becoming a government of the corporate by the corporate and for the corporate.
Now the tea party darling Joni Ernst will join the likes of Ted Cruz and Steve King to obstruct any meaningful legislation for working class and poor people. Their goals are to make this president look bad and destroy his legacy while serving their corporate masters; the American people be damned. Any thinking person who believes this animosity is not at least partially race-based is deluding themselves.
The president and Democratic members of Congress should devote their time and energy to making Mitch McConnell a one-term majority leader.
Oh, and the next time Texans revive talk of seceding from our union; we should ask, 'How may we help?”
