The Iowa Theatre's Barton pipe organ is being cleaned and restored at Jeff Weiler and Associates' workshop in Chicago. Weiler had played on the Barton organ when he was a student at Coe College, and has banners and posters from the Iowa Theatre hanging in his workshop.
The process will take several months, during which the components and pipes will be cleaned and refinished before being reinstalled at the theater. The organ console was also badly damaged in the flood and is being rebuilt in Reno, Nevada by Crome Organ Company.
