Enforce existing rules on Lake Macbride
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 20, 2011 11:24 pm
Motor size is not the only factor when considering safety on Lake Macbride. When a driver of any vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit and is caught, that driver will be penalized by receiving a ticket and is required to pay the applicable fine. Law abiding drivers are not restricted from access to the highways.
Lake Macbride has a no-wake rule, along with a 5 mph speed limit. Why not simply enforce the existing rules and penalize violators, rather than prohibiting taxpaying, rule-obeying, law-abiding fishermen from using a public lake simply because their motors exceed 10 horsepower?
