Harper Brush consolidation to bring 25-30 jobs to Fairfield

Consolidation of Harper Brush Works distribution facilities is expected to bring 25-30 jobs to the company's distribution facility in Fairfield.

The manufacturer of brooms, brushes and handheld cleaning products presently has manufacturing and distribution facilities in Greenville, N.C., and Fairfield. The company said it was not satisfied with its service levels to customers. After analyzing the reasons why, it found the company was spending too much time and money forecasting inventory needs by location and moving products between sites.

The consolidation plan is contingent on a state and local incentive plan that wil be considered by the City of Fairfield and the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

"The City of Fairfield is very pleased that Harper Brush Works is expanding its presence in Fairfield," Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy said in prepared remarks. He said the city has worked with Harper Brush for 111 years.
