Whited, Norma Jean

Norma Jean Whited, 84, of Las Cruces, N.M., passed into heaven on July 12, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society Las Cruces Village.

Jean was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Stanwood, Iowa, to Lucian and Blanche Burgess. She was one of 14 children, raised on a farm in Stanwood, Iowa, and later moved to Clarence, Iowa. On Feb. 26, 1949, she married Earl Milton Whited of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Our hearts are broken that we have lost her, but we know that she is with Jesus. She is now reunited with her husband and infant daughter. We love you so much, Mom and you will be greatly missed by us all!

She is survived by her children, Mike Whited of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patti Whited of Kirksville, Mo., Peggy Ludington and husband Ron of Silver City, N.M., and Dennis Whited and wife Cindy of Las Cruces, N.M.; a brother, Richard Burgess of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Florence Brickley and husband Dick of Anamosa, Iowa; a brother, Clifford Burgess and wife Beverly of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a brother, James Burgess of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Mary Reeder and husband Wayne of Grand Junction, Colo.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Whited, Eric Yaryan, Kaylene Buchanan, Melissa Ludington, Lisa Whited, Christy Morales and 12 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to the La Paz-Graham Funeral Home in Las Cruces, N.M. Graveside services will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, N.M., on August 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. Jean's infant daughter Kay's ashes will be buried with her.
