Linn County residents are eligible for the NACo Prescription Discount Card Program, which could help them save an average of 23 percent off of the full retail cost of prescription medications that are not covered under a traditional insurance plan, as well as some diabetic supplies.
The discount cards, available free of charge to Linn County residents, are available online at www.caremark.com/naco or at various healthcare locations throughout Linn County as well as Linn County West at 2500 Edgewood Rd. SW in Cedar Rapids. The program is offered through the National Association of Counties (NACo) in partnership with Caremark.
The discount cards can be used immediately at more than 60,000 participating pharmacies on prescriptions that are not covered by insurance. Participating pharmacies can be found online at www.caremark.com/naco.
“We encourage residents to use the discount cards because they can save money with them,” said Linn County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Linda Langston.
Since launching the program in 2006, more than 12,000 Linn County residents have used the discount card and saved more than $363,000 on prescription medications.
There is no cost to Linn County or residents to participate in the program. There are no forms to fill out, no age or income requirements and no medical condition restrictions. Cardholders and their family members may use the card any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The NACo Prescription Discount Card Program provides savings by passing along the Caremark negotiated discount rates to individuals with little or no prescription benefit coverage.
The NACo Prescription Discount Card Program is not insurance.
