A Coralville man accused of being connected to the 2009 homicide of 64-year-old Iowa City property owner John E. Versypt entered a written plea of not guilty on Wednesday.
Courtney L. White, 23, also known as "Mow Mow," was identified by a witness as being at the apartment building where Versypt was shot. Authorities say his clothing tested positive for gunshot residue.
White faces a charge of first-degree murder. He was taken into custody without incident by the Iowa Department of Corrections Oct. 4. He has since been held in custody on a $1 million bond.
Iowa Court records indicate that White chose to waive his right to a speedy trial. His case is currently scheduled to go to trial beginning on March 6, 2012.
