Americans need to take their own initiative
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 12, 2011 4:20 pm
I have watched four generations of Americans being led by the nose to the far left. Each generation gets weaker. They take less responsibility for their own future. They rely more on the government to cover virtually all of their needs such as food, medicine, education, health care and even diapers. They sacrifice their pride in personal accomplishments. They believe they are entitled merely because they exist.
Of course, this philosophy is all baloney.
People survived the Great Depression and World War II by sacrificing many wants and needs. They took pride in their success. Success provides rewards.
What has happened to our country since then? Why has our free enterprise, capitalistic system been so weakened? What is the appeal of socialism? Why don't able-bodied people want to succeed on their own?
You can take all the socialist baloney and put it between two slices of bread. Eat it. The only nutrition you find will be in the bread.
Wake up, America. Earn rewards on your own. Build up your self-esteem. Earn the respect of your peers. Disdain those who make promises that will trap you into their world of entitlements.
Don't let the government control your life. You take control of it by yourself. I may be old-fashioned. But I do know what made America great once upon a time.
