Tell Congress to stop funding Israel apartheid
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In 1948, the United Nations established Israel as a homeland for the Jews. The indigenous population, Palestinians, did not agree to this deal. They have faced persecution and forced removal from their land ever since.
I wonder what we Americans would do if the U.N. gave half of our country to Canada. Imagine being forcibly removed from your house. You are now a refugee and move west. Two decades later, your attempt to take back your land fails and even more of America is annexed. You are surrounded by hundreds of military checkpoints; 1.8 million Americans are even blockaded in a 40-square-mile area of California.
This is the reality that Palestinians endure every day. Your taxes help fund this ethnic cleansing.
Would you simply accept “the United States of Canada?” Or would you fight for your freedom in any desperate way you could?
If you would fight, then tell Congress to stop funding the apartheid in Israel and, in the words of Helen Thomas, “get the hell out of Palestine.”
