Lawler man injured in I-380 crash between car, semi

CENTER POINT, Iowa – A Lawler, Iowa, man was airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital after colliding with a semi on Interstate-380 this morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Rob Loftus, 22, of Lawler, was traveling southbound on I-380 at about 11:40 a.m. when he crossed the median near mile marker 37 and struck the trailer of a semi driven by Amandeep Singh, 33, of Surrey, British Columbia.
Singh's truck spun around and struck another semi in the left lane driven by Brian McElhinney, 50, of Morning Sun, Iowa.
Loftus' mangled vehicle came to rest in the east ditch. A Life Guard helicopter transported him to St. Luke's, 1026 A Ave. NE. According to hospital officials, Loftus was not listed as being in emergency care as of 6 p.m.
Singh's semi stopped in the roadway and McElhinney's semi came to rest in the median. Both northbound lanes were blocked for more than two hours.
The accident is still under investigation.
