IOWA CITY – It's the moment Iowa Hawkeye fans have been waiting for all season -- in a matter of hours we'll know which bowl game the Hawks are going to play.
But, it's also a little bittersweet because fans had such high hopes at the beginning of the season.
If you asked fans early on in the season, many would have told you they thought this was the year for the Hawkeyes to make it to a major bowl like the Rose Bowl.
But, after a string of loses, that didn't happen.
Fans at the Vine in Iowa City Sunday afternoon said they still love the Hawks, but wish they had done better.
"I don't think there's going to be the excitement and the fun there would have been had we gone out and won better," fan Lucas Neunsinger said.
Llyod Kimber said, "I think it would be nice if we get to play a good team. I'm more interested to see how we come out. If you give coach Ferentz that kind of time to prepare for a team. I believe we'll come out and have a good showing."
Kimber is a former Hawkeye and played for the team from 1983-1986 including when they went to the Rose Bowl.
He still wears his ring and says he still roots for the Hawks.
