Hiawatha announces new housing development

Hiawatha's recently annexed area west of I-380 will be the site for a housing development with 104 lots. The city council approved a preliminary plat Wednesday on the recommendations of the planning and zoning commission and the city engineer.
Called ‘The Pines at Turtle Creek,” the proposed development is bordered on the north by Todd Hill Road, on the east by Loggerhead Road and on the south by Canterbury Lane. It is owned by Mooney-Engle Land Company, LLC, Marion.
The area is part of some 300 acres recently annexed by the city. The city plans to bring water and sewer services across I-380 into the annexed area this summer.
