Missing the point on zoning complaint

Harold McCormick, the only one to speak for the zoning change from residential to commercial (“Fairfax's zoning denial squanders opportunity,” July 20 letter), seems to have missed the most important points of those objecting to the rezoning.
The developer wants to put a Casey's convenience store in the middle of a completely residential area. The concerns were light pollution, litter, noise, possible pollution of area wells, a commitment made to those in the new housing development in the area and, most important of all, safety.
There would be only one entry/exit. It would be on Beverly Road, a very short distance from the stop light at the intersection with busy Highway 151. Beverly Road already has a lot of traffic, as it is used as a short cut to Edgewood Road and Highway 30. In addition, there is a school bus stop near that proposed entry/exit. Also, there is a Casey's a short distance over to Edgewood Road and another a short distance down Highway 151 outside Fairfax.
