Man accused of shooting North Liberty boy with BB gun
NORTH LIBERTY – A Chicago teenager is accused of shooting an 8-year-old boy with a BB gun.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment on Sugar Creek Lane in North Liberty at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 for a report of a child shot with a BB gun. Officers found two injuries on the right side of the boy's stomach, according to a criminal complaint. The child complained of pain.
The mother identified Leslie K. Stokes, 19, as the shooter. He faces a charge of assault use/display of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Stokes was in Johnson County Jail on Friday morning on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
