RoughRiders drop 3rd straight, 3-1 at Indiana

Dec. 1, 2013 7:50 pm
INDIANAPOLIS - A rough weekend for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders ended even rougher Sunday night with a 3-1 loss to the Indiana Ice.
The Riders (12-6-1, 25 points) lost three times, twice to Waterloo, and scored only three goals in those games. Dylan McLaughlin had his team's lone goal Sunday, early in the third period.
Cedar Rapids once again played short up front, a result of injuries and illness. Coach Mark Carlson's club dressed only 11 forwards, one shy of normal.
Chris Birdsall took the loss in net. The RoughRiders were outshot, 32-17, including 17-6 in the first period.
They return home for a pair of games this weekend: Friday night against Green Bay and Saturday night against Tri-City.
They are in fourth place in the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference of the United States Hockey League, but just four points out of first.
