Car hits woman in downtown Cedar Rapids

Police said a 20-year-old woman was struck by a car Wednesday in downtown Cedar Rapids.
It happened around 8:55 a.m. in the 300 block of First Avenue East, near the Crowne Plaza Hotel construction site. Callers said a woman was lying in the street near the crosswalk.
Lt. Jerry Potter said the woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with minor injuries. Her name was not immediately released.
The driver of the car was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian, police said.
