Excelsior Middle School finds mold in six classrooms
In preparation for the start of school this week, Excelsior Middle School staff found non-toxic allergenic penicillium aspergillus mold in six classrooms.
Currently, an industrial cleaning service is on site remediating the rooms. Commercial grade air purifiers have been operating in the rooms since last week to eliminate potential allergens.
Classes will begin as scheduled on Wednesday, August 18. Students assigned to the six displaced classrooms have been assigned to other classrooms. The District anticipates the classroom sanitization to be completed by Friday. The District will not occupy the six class rooms until environmental tests clear the rooms for students.
