Ushers Ferry brings holiday cheer

Some people in Cedar Rapids went back in time tonight.
The Ushers Ferry Thanksgiving Candlelight Tour celebrated the holiday season from a hundred years ago.
Guests were able to see holiday traditions from then… and also sample food off a wood burning stove.
And a band featuring music from the time period played in the Ushers Ferry chapel.
“Come be with your family and just take a step back in time and come be in a quiet and pleasant place with your friends,” said Ushers Ferry Supervisor Teresa White.
Ushers Ferry has been holding this Thanksgiving Candlelight Tour for more than ten years.
If you missed tonight's tour, you have a chance again tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m.
Visitors enter the Hotel at Usher's Ferry Historic Village in Cedar Rapids for holiday tea and dessert during the Ushers Ferry Thanksgiving Candlelight Tour on November, 26, 2010. The event continues on Saturday, November 27 from 4pm until 8pm with holiday storytelling, hymn singing, parlor games, kolach baking in a woodstove, singing and dancing, souvenir shopping and other demonstrations and activities (Cliff Jette/Sourcemedia Group News)
