Disadvantages to existing county building
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 14, 2009 11:31 pm
After digesting the information at the recent Linn County Board of Supervisors open house in Marion, I feel that the supervisors are leaning toward the option of renovation and expanding the existing building.
Following are negative points for this option:
Location not central to Linn County residents.
Parking not adequate parking with only 233 spaces, all not located in the building location.
Expansion of current building will take away existing parking spaces.
Elevators will be needed requiring yearly maintenance/inspections.
According to a board member, they are going to build a Juvenile Court Building (at what cost?).
Trucks park in the drive of the current location.
Trains cause traffic congestion.
