Funding should be students’ responsibility

To the editor:
If I offered to do something for someone, I would support it with my own money. For example, if I offered to take someone out to eat, I would pay. If I offered to take care of the finances of another, I would plan on paying the bill.
Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, concerns me in what she is offering to the American people. If she wants free tuition at all state colleges, is her pocketbook big enough to foot the bill? If not, then she shouldn't promise this responsibility. Students know the price tag when they enter a college of their choosing.
If a responsible student wants something badly enough, he needs to lay out his plan in order to pay for it. He can earn money at a job, apply for scholarships, or seek a low interest loan. The student who is responsible enough to carry out the academic requirements for a career should be responsible for carrying out the funding of that choice.
I didn't offer to pay someone else's college tuition, so I should not need to put forth the money for it. Hillary did. If she personally wants to pay for the college tuition for others, that is fine, but let her take it out of her personal funds, not mine.
