Police arrested a Marion man early Sunday morning for allegedly trying to steal liquor from a Wal-Mart store and pushing an employee to the ground.
Tyrell L. Calhoun, 22, is charged with second-degree robbery. According to the police report, Calhoun was in the liquor aisle at Wal-Mart Supercenter, 3601 29th Ave. SW, around 2 a.m., which is the cutoff time to sell liquor.
Calhoun is accused of putting two bottles of Smirnoff vodka in his pants and trying to leave the store. When he was stopped, he took the bottles out of his pants and started to push the 27-year-old male employee, police said. They both went to the ground.
Calhoun was detained until police arrived. They took him to the Linn County Jail.
The two bottles of vodka - raspberry and vanilla - are valued at $42, police said.
