Kernels win 2nd in a row over Kane County

GENEVA, Ill. - Nick Gordon and Jorge Fernandez had three hits apiece, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels moved to 2-0 on the young Midwest League season with a 6-4 win Friday night at Kane County.
The Kernels scored twice in the top of the first inning, fell behind in the bottom half on a Stryker Trahan three-run home run, but rallied back to take a 4-3 lead with two runs in the second.
Gordon and Zack Larson knocked in a pair of runs each for Cedar Rapids. Fernandez, playing his first game, drove in a run and scored one.
John Curtiss allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings but got the pitching victory. C.K. Irby threw a scoreless ninth for the save.
