Marion street plan vote should have been public
The six members of the Marion City Council who voted to approve the Seventh Avenue Corridor Plan are wrong. Yes, let's divert traffic off the main street that has four lanes of traffic, two lanes each way, to a street with two lanes. What are you going to do, make people who live along Sixth Avenue move so you can clear that street for four lanes?
Do you care at all about the businesses that have been on Seventh Avenue for decades and how it will affect them? Do you care about those like me who take Seventh Avenue home every day from work and by diverting traffic at Ninth Street will cause us extra time and annoyance to get home?
You know you don't have the full support of the community because had you put it to a vote you know it would've been defeated. The real joy of this is that we get to pay for your asinine idea with our tax dollars.
One other thought: We could boot all those council members who didn't take the thoughts of the citizens they represent into consideration at the next election. Maybe we can get someone who could still stop this crap.
