Dec. 31, 2013 2:09 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Dylan Gareau will conclude his junior hockey career at home.
The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders captain has been moved to the Carleton Place Canadians of the Tier I Junior 'A' Central Canada Hockey League. The transaction will be official Wednesday, and the Riders will not receive a player in return.
"No, I didn't ask to leave," Gareau said in a direct conversation on Facebook. "Team just wanted to go in a different direction."
Gareau, 20, was in his third season with the RoughRiders. The Clarkson college commit had seven goals and five assists in 31 games this season.
The Richmond, Ontario, resident will be able to play with younger brother, Landon, a defenseman for Carleton Place, which has a 34-5 record.
Cedar Rapids plays Tuesday night at Green Bay, Friday and Saturday nights at Indiana.
