Board of Supervisors wasting time, energy
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 2, 2013 12:29 pm
I cannot believe how much time and energy the Linn County Board of Supervisors is spending trying to get rid of Linn County Auditor Joel Miller. We, the voters, have shown the Board of Supervisors and everyone else that we want Miller as our auditor. He is not the same person who the previous auditor was and they don't like it.
Miller believes in fiscal responsibility and accountability. It appears the Board of Supervisors and department heads do not want anyone questioning their expenditures or practices. What do they have to hide?
I did not vote for Garth Fagerbakke and do not condone his attempt to undermine Miller. He was beaten in a fair election by the voters and needs to accept that fact and get back to work to the position he is supposed to be filling. There is no reason for the Board of Supervisors to create a paid position for him within the county. He has a position with the auditor's office and needs to get back to work.
I think the voters need to keep this in mind when the supervisor election comes around. We also need to remember who gave themselves a big pay raise this year. It is time to get people in office who remember who put them there to work for us and quit the petty games.
