Scene Art?

The rolling hills of Jones and Jackson counties will be the scene of art, everything from paintings to sculptures to pottery, this weekend. Mostly it's along the Grant Wood Scenic Byway, so named because Grant Wood grew up here and attended a little white schoolhouse that has been restored along the byway.
Artists will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday from Stone City -- home to Grant Wood's artists colony in the early 1930s -- to Bellevue, including Anamosa, Wyoming and Maquoketa in between.
The object, according to organizers, is to expose visitors along the scenic byways of eastern Iowa to artists who ply their crafts often in the shadows of others.
Having met many of these artists for this story and in the past, I know visitors will enjoy what they see. The weather forecast calls for sunshine and temperatures in the '60s -- great spring days to wander and wonder.
