CORALVILLE - December's unseasonably warm weather - which has rain in the weekend forecast, rather than snow - has put a damper on one Coralville holiday tradition.
City officials announced Thursday that Coralville's Sunday lighting of luminarias for the Aisle of Lights event has been canceled due to significant rainfall expected this weekend, according to a city news release.
While the lighting of luminarias, small paper sacks lit with votive candles, is canceled, the bus tour of Coralville to see the neighborhood's holiday lights still is scheduled for Sunday. The city will operate a free, wheelchair-accessible bus departing from City Hall, 1512 Seventh St, about every 45 minutes starting at 5:15 p.m. with the last tour departing at 8:15 p.m.
Other Aisle of Lights events, which can be found at the city website, include special $2.50 admission to the Antique Car Museum of Iowa, 869 Quarry Road, a Christmas carol singalong at New Horizons United Methodist Church, 2251 First Ave, and a variety of activities hosted by Iowa River Landing businesses.
