MARION - The Marion Independent school board has scheduled a work session for 4:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 to discuss various aspects of its search to find a replacement for Superintendent Sarah Pinion. Pinion will be retiring June 30.
The board has hired Cedar Rapids-based Ray and Associates to assist with the search.
At this week's meeting, the board adopted a tentative timeline that calls for using the rest of this month to meet with constituent and stakeholder representatives, including students, and conduct an online survey to develop a profile to be used in the search.
The district also will put together a promotional flyer to give to applicants. The tentative deadline for applications is March 27.
The tentative timeline calls for Ray and Associates to assist the board in paring down the list of applicants and for the board to conduct interviews in April.
A date to complete the process has not been set. The process could include visits to leading candidates' current school districts by Marion board members.
A proposed salary for the superintendent's position has not been determined, but could be discussed at Monday's work session. Pinion's current annual salary is $148,600.
