Alliant Energy electric customers will have a chance to comment tonight in Marion on the utility's request for a 14 percent electric rate hike.
The Iowa Utilities Board will convene the public comment session at 6:30 p.m. at the Kirkwood Training and Outreach Services Center, 3375 Armar Drive, Marion. The utility received its last electric rate increase of 7 percent in January. It filed a petition March 10 seeking to increase revenues by $163 million per year, and enacted an interim rate increase of about 10 percent on March 20.
