According to a complaint from the Coralville Police Department, 43-year-old Michael W. Arterburn charged a correctional officer and assaulted him in early May.
Police say Arterburn was then taken to the ground, where two correctional officers worked to restrain him. During the alleged incident, police say Arterburn clawed at an officer's face repeatedly in an attempt to do as much physical damage as possible. The complaint said the officer received numerous bloody cuts to his face and head as a result.
