One killed, three injured in rural Fayette County crash

FAYETTE -- Iowa State Patrol troopers were investigating a crash that killed a driver and injured three others, including a 4-year-old, in rural Fayette County Friday.
Gailen Allwood, 67, of Westgate, died.
The accident happened at 10:30 a.m. According to a crash report, Allwood was traveling west on 100th Street (County Highway C33) when he lost control of his car and struck a pickup that traveling east, driven by Raymond Tellin, 29, also of Westgate east of S Avenue.
Tellin's pickup was struck on the left side, and Allwood's vehicle came to rest in a ditch on the south side of the roadway, troopers said.
Allwood's two passengers, 4-year-old Faith Steinbronn and 25-year-old LaTasha Wolff, both of Westgate, were transported by Covenant Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, according to the report.
Tellin was also injured and was taken by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital.
Troopers said Allwood was also transported by ambulance to Mercy, where he was pronounced dead. Mercy Hospital did not comment on the status of the victims' conditions.
All passengers were wearing seat belts, the report said.
