Hoech, Peter Christian
Peter Christian Hoech, 40, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, following a long illness. Visitation is Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Randy Nord will officiate.
Peter was a committed Christian who truly lived his faith. His thoughtfulness, caring and selfless generosity touched many lives.
Limited means and physical challenges diminished neither his sense of humor nor the joy he found in serving God by helping others. His departure leaves a great void in the lives of those privileged to have known him.
Born in Cedar Rapids, where he lived most of his life, Peter was a graduate of Trinity Lutheran School, of Kennedy High School, and of Kirkwood Community College. He most recently was employed as a media technician for Images Productions, an affiliate of Sound Concepts Inc. Previously he had worked for MCI, Parsons Technology and McLeod USA. Among his hobbies were music (trombone), photography, model railroading, playing Scrabble and rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Peter is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kathlene Hoech (nee Cook); by his father, Gary Hoech; brother, Karl; sister-in-law, Janet; niece, Annest; the Treptow family, Dian, Dave, Stephanie, Shannon, Stacie and Scott, all of Cedar Rapids; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shari Hoech; and by his grandparents, Carl Peterson, Harold Turner and Jennie Peterson Turner of Momence, Ill., and Fred and Dorothea Hoech of Saint Louis, Mo.
A memorial fund has been established.
