Ackmann, Gleva M.
Gleva M. Ackmann, 94, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., after a short illness. Services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after noon on Saturday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Gregg of Des Moines; and a daughter, Toni (Larry) Welchlen of Denver, Colo.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Eric Welchlen of Littleton, Colo., Todd (Stacie) Welchlen of Canyon, Texas and Wendy Van Opdorp (Todd) of Littleton; and eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Reed, Jake, Marlee, Allie, Makenna and Aubrey.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
Gleva was born on Aug. 21, 1918, in Elkport, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Alice Kottman Gifford. She married Bernard “Bud” Ackmann on Sept. 12, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. Bud died in 2002.
Gleva was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army.
