The Cedar Rapids Kernels are urging individuals with food allergies to come out to Veterans Memorial Stadium for a night of fun at the ballpark.
The Kernels have teamed up with the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network to host Food Allergy Awareness Night on July 30. Cedar Rapids takes on the Beloit Snappers at 6:35 p.m. with postgame fireworks to follow.
Special attention will be made in order to ensure that Veterans Memorial Stadium is a safe and enjoyable place for individuals with allergies. No products containing peanuts or tree nuts will be served at any of the concession stands on game day, and the stadium will be cleaned of any nut residue before the ballgame.
In addition, people with food allergies and their families have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets ($6.50 each). These tickets can be ordered either by calling the Kernels box office or visiting the ticket office at the stadium.
Anyone with questions regarding Allergy Awareness Night can call the Kernels at (319) 363-3887.
Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 a.m. on Kernel Sunday Home games.
