Laverty helps prepare students for the future

We have known John Laverty, candidate for Cedar Rapids school board, for many years. Through his work at the University of Iowa, his prior school board experience and, most of all, as an involved father of two in this district, Laverty has been a proponent of quality education. He has the ability and takes the time to analyze situations and form a reasoned decision based on facts, not personalities or politics, and then he has the courage to defend those decisions.
We are happy to have this sort of individual serving our district on the board and plan to vote to re-elect Laverty on Tuesday.
We are glad to see that the Cedar Rapids district is beginning to offer Spanish in the elementary grades and hope these offerings expand to include more languages that are used in our global community. Laverty supports top-notch educational opportunities for all of our students in order to prepare them to thrive and contribute as citizens, whether they live and work in Cedar Rapids or on another continent.
A mind open to new ways to make our schools better and fiscal responsibility as changes are made - both are qualities we seek in candidates for critical positions such as our school board. We both believe Laverty deserves your vote, too.
